One such initiative is the brand new Counterskills training programme aimed at pharmacy Counter Assistants who have completed an accredited Medicines Counter Assistant (MCA) programme.

Counterskills is a series of engaging, fun and information-rich workbooks which will help keep the Counter Assistant’s knowledge fresh and up to date,  therefore ensuring the best support and advice is given to their customers.

The workbooks will be distributed to customers on a bi-monthly basis, the Counter Assistants will be encouraged to read and complete the activities in each workbook and will receive certificates of completion after each set of workbooks. Each workbook will focus on a specific healthcare area and will contain;

• Main symptoms
• Suitable treatment options
• Practical advice
• WWHAM information
• When to refer to the pharmacist
• Activities to complete
• Multiple choice questions to check understanding
• A planogram to assist with merchandising
