Pharmacy Show Ties up with National Pharmacy Association

Chemist + Druggist magazine teams up as media partner

Closerstill Media Healthcare, the company behind the revamped Pharmacy Show 2009 (October 11th -12th, NEC, Birmingham), has announced it has entered into a partnership with the National Pharmacy Association (NPA) for the two-day training, education and community pharmacy sourcing event.

The new management and owners at Closerstill have unveiled the most comprehensive CPD-accredited conference and seminar programmes for community pharmacists and pharmacy management teams ever staged in the UK at a single event which sees five new concurrent conference streams at the show.

The education programme complements the biggest exhibition of more than 200 premier UK and international suppliers of prescription and OTC medicines, products and services in the show's history.

The NPA is a partner on a key new initiative - The Pharmacy Business Accelerator, a practical workshop programme designed to help pharmacy management and staff receive practical training to help them run better more efficient pharmacy businesses and services.

The NPA will be running a number of CPD-accredited workshop programmes under the Pharmacy Business Accelerator programme, given by its faculty of pharmacy business experts. The NPA and the Pharmacy Show will be under-taking a major promotional programme to all NPA members over the next few months in the run-up to the Pharmacy Show. There are currently just under 13,000 community pharmacies in NPA membership.

The Pharmacy Business Accelerator also features 1-2-1 advice clinics where independent pharmacists and contractors can seek advice from consultants, specialists and experts on a range of business areas such as finance, staff training, retail management, IT and marketing. The advisory programme is produced in partnership with the industry's leading magazine, Chemist + Druggist.

Other new education programmes at this year's Pharmacy Show aimed at Pharmacists and pharmacy business management include the Keynote Programme, programmed and hosted by editors from Chemist + Druggist, The Pharmacy Services Forum, and the Skills & Development Zone. The OTC Academy is aimed at helping pharmacy counter staff to better advise patients on a range of therapy areas.

"The NPA is an excellent partner for the show as it increases its focus on helping the independent pharmacists navigate the dramatically changing landscape of community pharmacy. There are many business challenges out there, but with that comes opportunity and we can think of no better partner to help community pharmacists meet those challenges head on than the NPA," added Michael Westcott, Director of the Pharmacy Show.

Other education partners at the Pharmacy Show include the Pfizer, the PSNC, the Independent Pharmacy Federation and The Pharmacists' Defence Association.
