In a career spanning 20 years working within and with the NHS, Shailen has been involved in a number of strategic and support roles relating to medicines management and service re-design in primary care. He has been instrumental in a number of nationally acclaimed initiatives encompassing medicines management, health economy wide service re-design for long-term conditions, community pharmacy projects and NHS / Industry partnership arrangements, holding posts as Head of Medicines Management and Diabetes Service Lead at Hillingon PCT. He is Immediate Past Chair of the Primary Care Pharmacist Association and is called into give advice to senior level government, NHS and professional bodies.

Shailen is the UK’s leading authority on medicines management in a GP commissioning environment. He has been leading the strategy and vision for a service provided by Soar Beyond in Buckinghamshire that has led to dramatic savings and improvements in quality- proving his long-held conviction that there was a need for an independent organisation that really understood the NHS and could help organisation to utilise the medicines management agenda to drive service improvements - the raison d’etre of Soar Beyond’s inception in 2007.
Shailen has been an innovator of partnership working with the Pharmaceutical Industry and an advocate of finding meaningful ways of improving patient outcomes together, whilst ensuring that the necessary governance and organisational objectives are met.
