Michael Wheeler

Michael Wheeler qualified as a Dental Hygienist from the RAF Institute of Dental Health and Training in the late seventies. While in the RAF, he was involved in a number of training initiatives including developing a dedicated dental fitness IT system.  He joined the NHS in Somerset in 1997 initially as Oral Health Promotion co-ordinator, before moving to be come the salaried service project manger with specific responsibility for expanding the old community dental service into a full 10 site personal dental service pilot. 

After this he become Dental Development Manager for the Somerset Primary Care Trust with responsibilities for introducing the new dental contact. Currently Michael is Dental Services Manager for both the University of Bristol and Universities Bristol NHS Foundation Trust. 

 He is a past President of BSDHT, a trustee of the British Dental Health Foundation and a member of the Medical Education England Dental Programme Board.
