Sue Sharpe

Sue Sharpe

After taking a law degree, Sue Sharpe qualified as a barrister. After 5 years lecturing in Law at Leeds and Durham Universities, she became a government lawyer, and spent three years as a legal adviser to the Attorney General. In 1991 she joined the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain, responsible for professional regulation, including the code of ethics, law enforcement, maintaining the statutory registers and providing legal advice to the Society.

In 2001 Sue became Chief Executive of PSNC, with a mandate to develop the organisation's capability to negotiate effectively with the NHS and develop the community pharmacy service. This has included negotiations that led to the introduction of the new community pharmacy contractual framework in 2005, which includes a number of new pharmacy services, among them Medicines Use Reviews, clinical governance and a new funding framework.
