Cultural Competence

In this session, you will explore what is meant by culture and cultural competence and how they impact upon healthcare and pharmacy practice. You will test your current knowledge with a short quiz. We highly recommend you bring your competitive spirit with you9! You will learn how to treat people with dignity and respect regardless of their differences or the diverse communities to which they belong. You will start to discover the language that people use to describe their identity, ethnicity or gender and consider how to use it to improve rapport and build relationships with them. You will identify key words and phrases that enable you to demonstrate a non-judgmental approach to culturally competent person-centred consultations. We will reward your efforts with an opportunity to practice what you have learnt through case discussions.
