Secondary prevention after coronary artery bypass graft: Role of the pharmacist in acute and primary care
The presentation will give an overview of coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) for treatment of ischaemic heart disease. It will outline the drug management post-surgery including dual antiplatelet therapy and other secondary prevention medicines, and how co-morbidities affect decision making in prescribing.
Pharmacist have an important role to play in optimising medicines in this group of patients. The ongoing medicines monitoring help maintain the long term benefits of CABG.
This presentation will be useful for pharmacists working in hospital who deal with patients with history of CABG, and those within primary care following up post-surgery discharge and their long term medication management.
