People with swallowing difficulties need medicines they can swallow safely. This session will provide practical advice on:
• How to choose the most appropriate formulations for patients with swallowing difficulties
• Patient and medicines factors to consider
• How to decide whether tablets can be crushed or capsules opened
• Where to find information
It will highlight NHS Specialist Pharmacy Service resources freely available to support pharmacists in decision-making. These include a step-wise approach to
choosing medicines formulations in swallowing difficulties.
