An interview with Mathew Peters, Senior Professional Services Manager, NPA 

What was the inspiration behind NPA Connects? 

NPA Connects was born from a shared vision to empower independent pharmacies to thrive in an increasingly competitive marketplace. We recognised that many pharmacists are exceptional healthcare professionals but often lack the time, tools, or expertise to promote their services effectively at a local level. By collaborating with Precision Marketing Group, we wanted to create a platform that bridges this gap, helping pharmacies communicate their value to their communities while driving footfall and service uptake. 

How does the platform help members improve profitability and operational efficiency? 

The platform is designed to simplify and professionalise local marketing for our members. NPA Connects takes the heavy lifting out of campaign planning and execution, allowing pharmacists to focus on patient care. Through ready-to-go, pharmacy-branded campaigns, members can attract more customers to their services—whether that’s flu jabs, weight management, smoking cessation, or travel health. The increased visibility and engagement translate into higher service uptake and, ultimately, improved profitability. 

What kinds of marketing tools or campaigns can members expect to access through the platform? 

Members can access a wide range of customisable, compliant marketing materials—from direct mail and social media posts to in-store posters and digital assets. Each campaign is designed to support key NHS and commercial services throughout the year. For example, we’ve recently supported members with Stoptober, flu vaccination, and blood pressure awareness campaigns. The tools are easy to personalise, giving each pharmacy a professional local marketing presence without the need for external agencies. 

How does NPA Connects make marketing more accessible for pharmacies? 

We’ve built NPA Connects to be intuitive and affordable. It removes the complexity and cost barriers that often stop pharmacies from marketing themselves. With just a few clicks, pharmacists can localise professional campaigns with their own branding, contact details, and even unique QR codes to track engagement. The goal is to make high-quality marketing as easy as ordering stock—accessible to every independent pharmacy, regardless of size or resources. 

What long-term impact do you hope NPA Connects will have on the independent pharmacy sector? 

Our ambition is to help independent pharmacies strengthen their position as vital healthcare hubs within their communities. Over time, we hope NPA Connects will help shift public perception—from pharmacies being seen purely as dispensers of medicine to being recognised as trusted, accessible healthcare providers. By empowering members with the right tools, we’re helping to secure the future of the independent sector through increased visibility, stronger patient relationships, and commercial sustainability. 

What message would you like to share with NPA members who haven’t yet explored the platform?
