PDA to deliver ‘Workforce Wellbeing’ session
Taking place in the Professional Development & Careers Theatre on Sunday 12 October from 1.50 pm to 2.20 pm
As part of its commitment to support the wellbeing of pharmacists, the PDA launched a Workforce Wellbeing Strategy earlier this year. The strategy is a transformative initiative designed to improve the mental health, financial resilience, and overall wellbeing of pharmacists across the UK.
In this Pharmacy Show session, PDA Director of Pharmacy Jay Badenhorst will explore what has driven the development of this strategy and explain how the PDA is committed to working alongside industry leaders, policymakers, and healthcare organisations to implement best practices and advocate for improved working conditions. Through strategic partnerships, educational programmes, and ongoing research, the PDA aims to drive meaningful change and create a resilient, well-supported workforce.
Jay said, “Pharmacists play a vital role in the health and wellbeing of patients, which is why we continue our work to support pharmacists who have problems in the workplace to ensure they get the support they need to carry out their roles effectively. Each year, the PDA donates £1 of every membership fee to the profession’s charity – Pharmacist Support. As well as supporting the charity financially, the PDA collaborates with Pharmacist Support to help pharmacists strengthen their working relationships with colleagues and managers. This gives pharmacists the opportunity to talk about their mental health openly, whilst ensuring they are aware of the support that is available to them if they are struggling. Our partnership also includes several mental wellbeing workshops and other initiatives.
The PDA’s workforce wellbeing initiative embodies our commitment to doing even more to safeguard the mental health, wellbeing and financial resilience of every PDA member. We will shortly be launching a Workforce Wellbeing survey to give us a clearer idea of the issues facing the sector and how best to support the mental health and wellbeing of pharmacists. We aim to share some of the initial findings of the survey during our ‘Workforce Wellbeing’ session at the Pharmacy Show. The findings of the survey will allow us to cater specifically to areas of wellbeing that pharmacists feel affect them the most. The session will also allow us to delve deeper into our strategy and next steps.”
