Hypertension and increased CVD risk - size of the prize (part 2)

07 Oct 2019
CLINICAL THEATRE
Part 2 - The NHS Long Term Plan identifies cardiovascular disease (CVD) as a clinical priority and the single biggest condition where lives can be saved by the NHS over the next 10 years. Evidence suggests that statin therapy to reduce cholesterol by 1mmol/L in people with a 10 year risk of CVD over 10% will reduced the risk of CVD events by 20-24% Reducing blood pressure by 5mmHg in adults with hypertension will reduce CVD events by 10%. This session will focus on the opportunities to reduce mortality and morbidity associated with high blood pressure and those at increased risk of CVD.
