Understanding Hypertension

06 Oct 2019
PUBLIC HEALTH & WELLBEING THEATRE
Today, the pharmacy sector faces some its greatest challenges in its history. Margins are being squeezed leading to pharmacy closures and there seems to be little end in sight. Every pharmacy is desperately looking to improve efficiencies, grow business and create value. Hypertension is a common condition that increases the risk of stroke and heart disease as well as being implicated with a number of other diseases. However because it is symptomless it is not always managed well by patients. Pharmacy teams can make a valuable contribution to the care of these patients. Educating patients about the impact of lifestyle, the need to adhere to medication regimens and measuring blood pressure accurately is key to supporting them effectively. This session will help pharmacists and their teams develop an increased focus on this important patient group.
