Capturing AFib – a new clinically validated algorithm for Atrial Fibrillation screening
06 Oct 2019
PUBLIC HEALTH & WELLBEING THEATRE
In this presentation we will look at the prevalence of atrial fibrillation (AFib) including the risks associated with AFib and Stroke prevention. We will also discuss how the Pharmacist can help improve AF detection rates using this new algorithm. Screening patients for AFib enables the Pharmacist to extend the services they provide to the community as well as further supporting their local NHS Surgery. It also aligns the Pharmacy to the latest NHS NICE guidelines, where it is recommended to opportunistically screen for Atrial Fibrillation when diagnosing and/or monitoring hypertension. NICE Clinical Guideline CG180 Atrial Fibrillation https://www.nice.org.uk/guidance/cg180/chapter/1-Recommendations#diagnosis-and-assessment The latest A&D Medical innovation provides unique single BP measurement Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) screening. This unique AFib+™ technology has been clinically validated by Professor Kario, Jichi Medical University School of Medicine, Tochigi, Japan, and is now available here in Europe. A&D Medical have invented many of the leading innovations in the blood pressure market including the oscillometric method of measurement which they patented back in 1984. This is now the preferred method of measurement across all automatic upper arm blood pressure monitors. They also developed the Irregular Heartbeat (IHB) function in 2001, a function that is also now found across the industry. • Capturing AFib. • Stroke Prevention. • A&D Medical. • Over 40 years of Japanese innovation and technology. • Clinically validated blood pressure monitors. • Clinically validated AFib screening technology.
