Claire is Superintendent Pharmacist at Boots UK, leading the professional agenda for pharmacy practice and patient safety across the organisation’s UK pharmacy network.
Registered pharmacist since 1992 qualifications include MSc Health Promotion and Health Education (University of Edinburgh) and a Certificate in Independent Prescribing (Keele University).
Professional biography
Claire has more than 30 years’ experience in community pharmacy, with a career spanning frontline practice and senior professional leadership at Boots. Before becoming Superintendent Pharmacist, she held roles within Boots’ Professional Standards team, practising as an independent prescriber and supporting the development and implementation of innovative pharmacy services.
An expert in pharmacy regulation and governance, Claire leads the setting and delivery of professional, regulatory and clinical standards for core pharmacy and extended services, including those delivered online, as well as standards for consumer health advertising, marketing and promotions. She is known for collaborative leadership and partnership working that helps shape the evolving role of registered pharmacy professionals. Claire is an Honorary Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice at the University of Nottingham, contributing to pharmacy practice research and PhD supervision. In her Superintendent Pharmacist role, she oversees the safe operation of around 1,800 pharmacies and supports more than 5,000 registered pharmacy professionals across the UK. In April this year Claire was elected to the Royal College of Pharmacy English Pharmacy Advisory Council.
