Hammaad Patel

Hammaad Patel is a Prescribing Adviser at NHS West and North London ICB, where he leads and supports a range of community pharmacy programmes and transformation workstreams. His work has included serving as the local digital lead for the Community Pharmacy Prescribing Pathfinder Programme, and he now leads the implementation of independent prescribing in national community pharmacy services and the local Prescribing Development Programme across West and North London.
In his role at NHS England, Hammaad supports the development and implementation of national community pharmacy policy, clinical strategy, and transformation programmes aligned with NHS strategic priorities. His work has included leading on the NHS New Medicine Service since 2020, most recently overseeing the design, development, and delivery of the national pilot for depression and the subsequent inclusion of antidepressants within the service.
Hammaad is a community pharmacist by background, an independent prescriber, and a trained Clinical Safety Officer, with a strong interest in improving access to care, advancing the clinical role of community pharmacy, and using digital innovation to enhance patient outcomes.
