Curtis has worked as a pharmacy technician across community, primary and secondary care, spanning a 20 year period, having worked both in England and Wales, where he is currently based. He began his career in Pharmacy Stores as a ward top-up Assistant Technical Officer (ATO), and then undertook tudent pharmacy technician training within the same team at Queen Alexandra Hospital, Portsmouth, completing both ward-based and accuracy checking pharmacy technician status along the way. Alongside these roles, he has also worked within the community pharmacy setting to cover weekend rotas and facilitate repeat prescription processes – transferring skills and knowledge attained to help benefit cross-sector working and understanding. After working in Brighton and Manchester, opportunities directed his career towards primary care, working within the GP practices of Oldham CCG to review and implement safe and cost-effective prescribing. For the last 7 years he has replicated this role in Health Boards across Wales, and have been involved in many innovative projects and roles throughout his career – such as becoming a Trust’s ‘Inhaler Technique Champion’, being the technical lead on pilot projects involving commissioning new services, such as domiciliary care and chronic kidney disease, and has recently gained a BTEC Level 4 Professional Diploma in Pharmacy Clinical Services.
