
Darrell Baker

Darrell is currently project lead at the Royal Pharmaceutical Society for the partnership project with Marie Curie UK on development and implementation of Quality Improvement (“Daffodil”) Standards for Community Pharmacy. He retired from the NHS in 2022, having most recently been the Chief Pharmacist, Clinical Director of Pharmacy and Medicines management for Cardiff and Vale University Health Board. The teaching Health Board provides primary, secondary and community care for 0.5million people across Cardiff and Vale of Glamorgan and tertiary services across Wales.
His 42 years professional career was within the NHS, primarily in roles involved in direct patient care, with a strong emphasis on training and staff development. As Vice Chair of the Chief Pharmacist Peer Group in Wales, he took a lead role on workforce development. A Fellow of both the Royal Pharmaceutical Society and RPS Faculty, he is also a member of the Institute of Leadership and Management having completed their Certificate in Executive Coaching and Mentoring (Level 7).
