Jane Carruthers
Senior Medicines Optimisation Pharmacist,
NHS North of England CSU (NECS)
Jane Carruthers started her career as a community pharmacist in London with a brief sojourn as a community pharmacy manager in New South Wales, Australia. Ultimately, she became superintendent for a small pharmacy group in London and then, until two years ago, superintendent for a busy community pharmacy in the North of England.
For the last 25 years she has combined her community pharmacy superintendent role with working as a primary care pharmacist. Working initially for Tower Hamlets Primary Care Trust in East London and latterly working in Cumbria for NECS on behalf of North East North Cumbria Integrated Care Board. Jane is the Senior Medicines Optimisation Pharmacist for a team of nine pharmacists and three pharmacy technicians.
Jane has been an Independent Prescriber for over 10 years focusing on medication reviews in care homes. She now uses her prescribing qualification for the out-of-hours service in Cumbria.
