Mark Burdon studied pharmacy at the University of Sunderland, graduating in 1999. Living and working in the area, he has retained close links with the University and joined the Board of Governors in August 2021, becoming Chair in August 2025.
Mark is a practicing community pharmacist and developed a successful chain of local pharmacies in the north-east of England. He has been active in pharmacy governance both nationally and internationally.
