Co-SMR: a co-produced bank of learning disability resources to support medication reviews

People with a learning disability are more likely to be prescribed psychotropics for behaviour and other unlicensed indications. Some of this prescribing is inappropriate and it should always be reviewed regularly to check for ongoing need and adverse effects. This session will describe how to conduct a medication review with a patient who has a learning disability and is prescribed psychotropic medicines. It will signpost learners to newly developed resources that can help support pharmacy staff completing these reviews and help patients get the best out of the review. It will showcase example case studies, to highlight what knowledge and skills pharmacists need when carrying out these reviews.
