Delivering a holistic approach to Opiate Substitution Therapy (OST) with pharmacists playing a critical role in delivery, safety and patient engagement.
This session brings together frontline and strategic perspectives on OST, led by Mohammed Fessal, Director of Pharmacy at Change Grow Live (CGL), alongside Vicki Roberts, Service Development Manager, Community Pharmacy England.
The session will explore the evolving landscape of opiate substitution therapy, including current clinical approaches, commissioning priorities and practical challenges faced by community pharmacists. Attendees will gain insight into new models of OST service delivery, promoting adherence and patient safety, managing risk, and supporting people with complex needs to achieve better outcomes. The speakers will also highlight the value of multidisciplinary working and how pharmacy teams can help reduce drug‑related harm while supporting long‑term recovery.
Designed for pharmacists and pharmacy teams working in community, primary care or specialist settings, this session will provide practical learning, real‑world examples and clear take‑away actions to strengthen confident, compassionate and clinically effective OST practice.
