In April 2026 amendments were made to the Human Medicines Regulations 2012 relating to vaccination. These changes were made, following consultation, to improve timely access to vaccinations across the system.
Of particular interest to pharmacy services the amendments introduce a new legal mechanism, a Vaccine Group Direction building on the learning and experience of the National Protocol.
Also, the regulations relating to the provision of nationally commissioned vaccinations by community pharmacies have been amended to support vaccination service provision.
The presenters will update attendees on these amendments and advise on what they mean in practice and how they can be utilised by pharmacy services to improve vaccination access and provision.
